Amy Farrar

Amy Farrar’s passion for seniors and her heart for service led her to found the Tennessee Center for Estate & Elder Law, which advocates for clients in both legal and non-legal matters related to aging. She provides a holistic approach to finishing life well, including estate planning, trust law, elder law, and creating a sense of peace and closure for families as they navigate probate and conservatorships.

After graduating from Wake Forest University and working in Washington, D.C. drafting legislation, Farrar graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law. She was Membership Director of the Mississippi Law Journal and was an active member of the Moot Court Board. Farrar received the prestigious Hugh C. “Buzzy” Clayton memorial scholarship, which is given based on a combination of academic standing, character and community service.

Farrar began her legal career as a law clerk for Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Cornelia A. Clark and then spent six years at an esteemed Nashville law firm before founding her own law firm in 2012.

Farrar is a respected leader in the legal field. She regularly presents Estate Planning, Elder Law, and Appellate Practice seminars to attorneys across Tennessee, and she is an active member of the Estate Planning Council of Middle Tennessee, the Murfreesboro Estate Planning Council, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and ElderCounsel. Farrar has been named a Mid-South SuperLawyers “Rising Star” in the legal field for six consecutive years, and she has served as an adjunct professor of business law at Middle Tennessee State University.

Farrar is actively involved in her community, founding the Middle Tennessee Lawyer’s Association for Women and serving as a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro, on the Executive Board of Directors for the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring, and as a past Board Member of the Murfreesboro Noon Rotary Club. Farrar also currently serves as the Third Vice President of the Charity Circle of Murfreesboro and as a Trustee of First Presbyterian Church. Farrar was appointed as the Middle Tennessee Delegate to the Board of the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women and as the Treasurer for the Middle Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women.

Farrar is passionate about really listening to client needs, understanding the dynamics of a client’s family and finances, and taking a strategic – yet practical – approach to planning for them. As she always tells clients: estate and elder law planning is like a puzzle – and Farrar loves helping clients solve their puzzle before it becomes a problem.

Farrar is married to attorney Jeff Farrar; they have three active young sons.
